Obituary of Ione Leota Hartzer

Ione (Woehl) Hartzer died January 11, 2017 after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. She died peaceful in her home surrounded by her loving son Ron Hartzer. Ione was born October 25th 1928 in Fairfax South Dakota to Peter and Martha (Gentele) Woehl. She married Richard Hartzer October 19, 1955. To this union were born two children Richard Lee Hartzer and Ronald Patrick Hartzer. Ione loved working, especially working in the service industry. This gave her an excuse to come out of her otherwise introverted self and talk to people. She loved learning about people and had a strong loyal customer base. She started working in the service industry at the Sunset Café in Pierre SD in 1949. She also worked at The Safari/The Brown Derby in Scottsdale Arizona for 25 years, then ended her career at the Red Lotus in Auburn after 25 years at age 85. Ione loved Jitterbug, flower gardening, listening to classical music and old movies. Ione is preceded in death by her children Sharon (Woehl) Spint, Norman Woehl and her parents Pete and Martha Woehl and her siblings Irene Woehl, Ira Woehl, Ivan Woehl, and Ed Woehl. She is survived by her siblings Elaine (Woehl ) Giles, Ruth (Woehl) Anderson, Larry Woehl, and Herman (Butch) Woehl.
