Obituary of Norman George Becker

Norman George Becker, 83, of Auburn, Washington, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at home. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Online condolences may be made by viewing Norman’s memorial page at www.klontzfuneralhome.com. Norman was born August 1, 1935, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to George and Mary (Kihlthau) Becker. He was the oldest of three children. He attended Lake Alice School graduating from the 10th grade in 1951 and graduated high school in Scottsbluff 1953. Norman joined the Air Force after graduating high school along with several of his classmates. While stationed at Beal Air Force base in Marysville, California, he met the love of his life, Ethel Marie Smith. They were married November 16, 1958 in Yuba City, CA. After honorably discharging from the service, he and Ethel began farming in Scottsbluff in 1958. They lived in the Lake Alice community, farming and raising their family of three, Corey, Lisa, and Marian. In 1987, after a hail storm destroyed the crops, Norman and Ethel traveled to Kent, Washington to visit their children, Corey and Marian. He applied for a job at Rainier Pallet Company and was hired right-a-way to be a Millwright. He also worked for Truss-Span as a Millwright. In addition, they managed a large mobile home park in Auburn, WA in 1993 until their retirement in 2004. Norman has lovingly cared for Ethel for many years due to health issues. He and Ethel are members of the First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff, NE and Kent, WA. He taught Sunday school often and was a deacon. Norman loved anything and everything to do with Airplanes. How fitting to be in the Seattle area visiting the flight museum and Boeing plant to watch planes being made. Norman, Corey, and his grandson, Marco, attended Airshows throughout the years. The family always thought he could be one of the best guides at the Flight Museum. You would never meet a more avid sports fan, and there was never a time when sports was not on the TV. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and the great grandchildren called him Big Papa. Survivors include his wife Ethel, who would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary November 16th. Children Corey Becker of Auburn, WA; Lisa Rogers of Olathe, KS and Marian Gaudino-Becker of Auburn, WA. Grandchildren Amy Rogers (Jeremy Brooks) of Olathe, KS; Amber (Zac) Nowels of Olathe, KS and Marco Gaudino of Auburn, WA.
