Obituary of Matagi Pita Nua

Matagi Pita Nua Sunrise April 09, 1962- Sunset December 11, 2020 Our beloved father Matagi Nua, 58, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday December 11, 2020 at Auburn Multi-Care due to Cancer. He was surrounded by his lovely wife So’olei Vavao Leiataua- Pita, children, grandchildren, furry grandchildren and family at the time of his passing. He was born on April 9, 1962 in Pava’ia’i, American Samoa, the son of Vaueli Pita and Si’iloto Ruta Mavaega Ailepata. As a child growing up, he loved his parents, siblings, and extended families. Matagi was a humbled and caring man, always serving others with a big heart. Matagi was most noted for being a great role model to his siblings teaching them to always put God first through trials and tribulations which overplayed through his life. He was survived by his beautiful wife So’olei Vavao Leiataua-Pita, who he married on October 12, 1986. He had 6 children and 1 daughter in law: Sons Jerome Pita, Daniel Pita and Matagi Pita Jr. Daughters Magnolia Leiataua Pita, Maylynn Pita and Ruth Leiataua Pita and daughter- in- law; Sulieti Pita. He also had 6 grandchild and 3 furry (dogs) grandchildren: grandsons Noah Fungchenpen , Nathaniel Fungchenpen and Kluhron Fox Pita. Granddaughters Mayah Fungchenpen, Nuella Fungchenpen and Mayanna Fungchenpen. Furry grandsons, Koba, Boyka and Creed. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin to his family. His faith in God was second to none. God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be. He wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered, “Come with me.” He suffered much in silence; his spirit did not bend. He faced his pain with courage until the very end. He tried so hard to stay with us, but his fight was not in vain, God took him to his loving home and freed him from pain. He lived a great life filled with love, joy, and compassion. He leaves this world with his beautiful smile imprinted in our memory and hearts forever. We love you; we are thankful for you and know you are watching over us in heaven. You are the light and the reason we smile every day.
