Obituary of Victor Gordon Lien

Victor Gordon Lien, age 88 passed away suddenly on March 1, 2005 in Auburn, WA. He was born on December 21, 1916, in Cottonwood, MN, and lived his early years with his mother, three sisters and one brother on their family farm. He joined the Army during WWII and was stationed in Alaska, where he met Jean Taylor. They were married and settled in Seattle, where they had two daughters, Vicki Ann and Deborah Sue. Vic started Superior School Photo Service in the late 1940’s. His business grew to cover much of the Northwest. He also enjoyed taking pictures of many family and local events. Victor married Lois Sparks in June 14 years ago and together they enjoyed becoming a vital part of the Auburn community. Their travels took them on many wonderful world adventures, which they enjoyed with many friends year after year. Vic was also an avid Husky fan and loved attending football games. Vic was active in many social and community organizations including Sand Point Country Club and Valley Kiwanis Club of Auburn. He was Kiwanis past president and organized the yearly charity golf tournament and Christmas stocking drive. He also regularly volunteered in schools and demonstrated his love for learning by writing and publishing a children’s picture book in 2002. His love for people is evidenced by his wide circle of friends. He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Fast-Barber and Debbie Greenberg, sons-in-law Phillip Barber and Jay Greenberg, and granddaughter Lauren Fast, plus many many dear friends. Services will be held Tuesday, March 8, at 1:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church, Auburn. Graveside Services Tuesday, 11:00 AM at Mt. View Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Messiah Lutheran or Valley Kiwanis of Auburn.
