Obituary of Dorothy Adele Peterson

Dorothy A. Peterson October 10, 1932 – September 4, 2019 Dorothy (Frankhauser) Peterson, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully left this world surrounded by family on September 4, 2019, to meet her Heavenly Father. Dorothy was born in Puyallup on October 10, 1932, as the first daughter to John and Adele Frankhauser. She grew up in the Milton/Puyallup area and, at the age of 16, she married Dominick Tucci of Puyallup, WA, where they subsequently established a home. This marriage produced Dorothy's three children upon whom she doted. Her first marriage ended in the early 1960s and, on June 24, 1967, she met and married her soulmate, Chester (Pete) Peterson, and they began their fifty-four years of life together in the family home located in southeast Auburn. Family was the most important aspect of Dorothy's life and she made it apparent in all that she did. She gave freely of herself to her loved ones, who treasured and truly enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor and her ever-present optimism. You could always count on Dorothy to always be among the very first to volunteer to help with all sorts of family endeavors, even dreaded ones, and would do so happily and eagerly. Dorothy and Chester shared a love of leisure road trips, taken during various seasons, where they would travel throughout the State of Washington and the western United States area. Dorothy's preference for viewing new vistas through a windshield, rather than other means, was well known within the family. On a nice afternoon, you would normally find Dorothy on her backyard swing, with her phone and radio, appreciating her yard, flowers and the wild birds that she loved and kept fed with plenty of fresh water in which to bathe. This swing was also her "special spot" to hold heart-to-heart talks with loved ones. Dorothy is survived, and dearly missed, by her husband, Chester Peterson, of Auburn, son Charles Tucci (Vickie) of Surprise, Arizona, daughter, Cherryl (Tucci) Cowfer and son, Scott Peterson (Char), both of Bonney Lake, WA. Dorothy is further survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Lastly Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Eleanor Street of Auburn and Marian Knudtson of Port Orchard, as well as a beloved brother- and sister-at-heart, Nick and Gloria Tucci. Services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Sumner, WA. Rosary Service 9:45am; Viewing 10am; Funeral 11am followed by a small gathering before traveling to the final resting place at Sumner Cemetery at 2pm.
