My earliest memories include Lionel and the Landry family, and all of them are sweet. I was super shy when I was young and did not feel comfortable around just anyone, but Mr. Landry was one of the few people I always felt totally at ease with. I will always remember him as one of the kindest, most loving people I have ever known. To the entire family, please know how deeply sorry I am for your loss. You all are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am grieving with you.

Dearest Mrs. Lynn, Christy, Cathy, and Carrie, Words cannot adequately express my profound sadness for you all. I am so heartbroken for you. Mr. Lionel was as Cathy described “magical.” He was an incredible daddy, faithful husband and a precious friend to the Beidel family. I treasure the memories I have of him and I so look forward to Heaven when I get to see him again and hug his neck. Much love to you, Mary

One of our memorable experiences with Lionel (and Lynn) was on a boat day trip to a small bay near Poulsbo. During lunch a pair of very large swans came up to the boat to greet us. Lionel was enthralled by these beautiful creatures and we enjoyed the camaraderie between them until the birds swam gracefully swam off to another visit.

I’ve been Blessed by God to have been able to know Loinel Landry ..... We’ve hunted together in Louisiana marshes for deer & rabbits.. we’ve fished in Texas lakes .. we’ve varmint hunted in Osage county Oklahoma... hunting isn’t just about getting the game ... it’s about being together and sharing the experience & the memories... that’s what I have that will always be with me.... while visiting his home in Duson years ago I got a personal showing and story of the history of his dads poirgue that’s now in the museum. May God Bless his entire family and be with them ....... Bill Woodham

I'll always miss simple trips to the woods where we were always father and son. More than anything, I loved talking to him, and dreaming of adventures, the way things were, and how being together let our restless hearts roam together. He was a good man. Deeply good, unconditionally loving beautiful person. Thank you for these beautiful words that bring his smile and joyful sounds to me.

Such a touching write up, I'm sure he would be honored to know it was written by his daughters. Only a handful of encounters with Lionel but memorable as his warm living ways made me feel like we were long lost friends and he hugged with a warm teddy bear type hug. Thanks for sharing this, our hearts are with the whole family.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of a true friend, one with whom I spent a lot of time with in our early years together in school and playing sports. I lost track of him in our later days, but the memory of his wonderful friendship stays with me now and over the years. He was a person that I will never forget because of his kindness and caring demeanor. Rest in Peace dear La-La you will be greatly missed. Gary Newport

I have never read an obituary more loving. I only got to know one of Lionel's closest well -- but now I understand even better, why I love her as much as I do. So much that I can't put it into words...

I've often said I had the best parents ever, and that is reality. I won the parent lottery, and I'll be forever thankful for that. I can't count the times we laughed until it hurt. Laughed until we got removed from a movie or from a church or from a gathering ... uncontrollably infectious. I'll never forget the endless things he did for me or for the ocean of love and forgiveness and support he afforded me. He was simply the best. Travel onto your next amazing journey, Daddy. I'll never forget one ounce of your love and laughter. I will carry you with me forever. You are loved to the moon and back. ❤

We were lucky to win the "Dad lottery," as my sister Cathy would say. I guess there is never enough time to be with those we love. I'm glad you're at peace, Daddy.
