Obituary of Patricia Scarrah

Patricia McLaughlin Scarrah woke up in heaven on September 1 after a nearly year long battle with cancer. Patti had a talent for making friends anywhere she went and had a steady stream of visitors to the end. She was born in Metamora, Illinois on January 19, 1933. When Patti was 12 she moved with her family to California on a westbound train full of happy servicemen celebrating VJ Day. After graduating from Holy Family High School in Glendale in 1950 she worked as a phone operator for 14 years before moving to Seattle where she went to work at Boeing. At Boeing she met her future husband, George Scarrah. They were married for 21 years until he passed away in 2001. Patti retired from Boeing as a buyer in 1993 after 21 years of service. She volunteered at the Renton Police Department for three years until blindness left her unable to serve. Patti was a Mariners fan for many years--a source of joy and frustration. Even though she's blind, she attended and enjoyed some games at Safeco field. A funeral mass for this prayer warrior will be held at St Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 13055 SE 192nd St, in Renton on Thursday, September 12 at 11:00 am followed by a celebration of life in the church hall. You can sign her online guest book at www.klontzfuneralhome.com She is survived by her oldest sister, Loretta Noe, stepdaughters Terry Scarrah and Laurie (Dennis) Brooke, her BFF Fay Varden, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or offer up a prayer for the M's.
