After the Army Daren had several jobs but retired from Inco Express, trucking groceries around the country. In his free time, Daren loved tinkering around on his cars, especially his 1945 Willys, setting up his trains, playing practical jokes on just about anyone, and telling one of his many stories. In 2001, Daren met Phyllis Converse at the local hardware store. After their second date he asked her if it was too early to ask her to marry him. They finally got married on January 22, 2011. Daren leaves behind his wife, Phyllis Shook of Auburn; two sons, Max (aka. Fuzzy) Shook and Dean Shook both of Sumner; Step-children, Steve (Mary) Converse of WI, Cheryl (Patrick) Brady of Spanaway, and Tracy (Chris) Prest of Orting; 2 siblings, sister, Awanda Shook and brother, Claude (Marilyn) Shook of Spokane; 12 Grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many friends.
