Obituary of Hamar Benson

Rev. Hamar Benson was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, October 5, 1910. He became an ordained minister in the Lutheran Church in 1941. Some of his proudest service was as a chaplain in World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for valor at the Battle of the Bulge. Hamar died at peace, November 27, seven weeks after his 100th birthday, at his home in Auburn. He is survived by his wife Wanda, seven children, 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be Wednesday, 3 PM at Family of Grace Church; internment Thursday at Tahoma National Cemetery
