Obituary of Mildred Zellene Danner

Mildred Zellene Danner Beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Aunt, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother. Passed away May 23, 2010 in Puyallup, WA Preceded in death by H. Jack Danner Sr. her husband of 52 years and her parents Thomas Harry and Jennie Pearl Flood. Survived by her four children Judith K. Sroufe (John), Patrica J. Straub (Jon), Carolyn S. Grennan, Harold “Jack” Danner Jr. (Irene), 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Howard Flood, and two sisters Karleen Testerman and Hazel Von Derau. Mildred was born April 3, 1925 in Mountain View, MO. She grew up there, graduated from Mountain View high school and attended Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, MO. She met and married her husband H. Jack Danner Sr. in 1944. Their early married life was spent in Missouri , Kentucky and Ohio finishing Jack Sr's education and building their family of four children. She and Jack Sr. moved their family to Auburn WA in 1957 to accept employment for Jack Sr. at the Boeing Company. They bought their first home in 1958 and settled in for the long haul. Millie's whole life was centered around her family. She enjoyed gathering the family to celebrate holidays, birthdays, milestones of every kind and Sunday dinner.. Family traditions that began with her will live on as an annual Easter Egg Hunt for over 100 participants and as a Christmas Eve sing along for her entire family and more. Millie had an interest in and valued education all her life. She and Jack Sr. provided college tuition for all the family's young people who sought higher education and later in life she regularly volunteered to read stories to the children at Little Jack's Corner School. In 1968 Millie and Jack Danner Sr. founded the parent company to the Danner Corporation in Auburn WA. She, worked at the business in the early years and kept the household in good order while Jack Sr and Jack Jr worked out ways to attract customers and set up production. Danner Corporation continues today, as a successful family owned manufacturing company. Millie was a world traveler, an excellent friend who looked after people she loved, and in younger years competed in league bowling. Her leisure time passion was playing pinochle and bridge with her friends and family. She learned to play cards as a youngster. She and her siblings played a weekly game that always generated none stop laughter. Because of family love and commitment, these games continued even as her health and memory faded. She also loved to play tile rummy with her children and grandchildren The family suggests memorial donations to the Epilepsy Foundation. Viewing at Klontz Funeral Home 410 Auburn Way N.
