Harold Robert Gresset Harold was born May 20, 1930, in Seattle, Washington to Olaf and Sophia Gresset. He was the youngest of four children. He attended Mount View Elementary School and graduated from Highline High School in 1948. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and served from 1948-1949 followed by a second tour during the Korean War from 1950-1952. In between these two tours of duty Harold married Joy, his high school sweetheart, March 25, 1950. After his discharge in 1952, he returned to his job with Leonard Homes and started his college years at Seattle University. In 1956, he took a big leap and started his own construction company, Harold R. Gresset, Builder. His specialty was custom homes. He also built apartments, churches, and spec houses. In 1963, he was awarded the Seattle Times “Home of the Month” which was also chosen as “The Home of the Year”. Harold was an active member of the Seattle Master Builders and served as a trustee. In later years, his building skills were greatly appreciated by Habitat for Humanity. He fulfilled his wish to work until the day he died. His last regret would have been leaving behind an unfinished kitchen. In 1964, Harold joined Gideons International serving at the state and local level for 45 years. He worked for the Lord whole-heartedly placing Bibles in hotels, schools and prisons which changed many lives. Joy and Harold were happily married for 59 years. God blessed their home with four wonderful children: son- Dr. Gregory Gresset (Verla), daughters- Karen Larson (David), Dr. Jeanette Brandal (Oyvind), Deanna Kirk (Lee). Eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren brought unbelievable happiness into their lives. His sister Margaret Hill resides in Aberdeen, Washington.
