I met Nancy, twenty five plus, years ago.She welcomed me and husband into her home and family with open arms. Over the years with Jeff and Tami’s wedding, births of their three children, Lisa, Andrea, and Amy’s weddings, and other family events, I spent quite a bit of time with Nancy. I came to think very highly of her and to love her. She showed so strongly her unconditional love for her family and acceptance and deep caring for the people whom came into her life. I’ve heard it said upon one’s death, it’s the dash between the dates that truly counts. Nancy’s dash was full! She gave so much to so many. I last talked with her, Dec. 27th. We had a great conversation. We talked of her health, but she was just as concerned of how I was. She spoke of all her grandchildren with love and a great pride. She told me her future was in the Lord’s hands. And she now, I know, is in the best of hands-the Lord’s. I will miss her terribly. We’d planned to have conversations often in the near future. But if I can take from her just a part of what she’s shown me and live it, then perhaps I can do her memory justice. If we all could be even close, to the loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, friend, and person she was- what a better world this would be. May her wonderful memories and love bring you all comfort. Sincerely, Gerrie

When my sister Tami married Nancy’s son Jeff, she welcomed in not only a new daughter in-law, she also welcomed in her daughter in-laws family. Nancy was always welcoming to us at holidays and family gatherings. She always took the time to touch base with us, and her concern was always genuine. One thing that will stay with me is how strong I felt she was dealing with her pulmonary illness. She dealt with it with dignity. I am glad that I was able to be welcomed into her family, and know her as a friend.

The Serenity Prayer God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
