Obituary of Elmer A. Chase

Elmer A. Chase, 91 of Auburn died on May 12, 2005 in Puyallup. Born Feb 1, l914 in Auburn, WA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, high school sports, horse racing and dancing. He played Santa for his grandchildren and various organizations. For many years he was involved in King Co. 4 X 4 Search and Rescue; A 32 year retired local 174 Teamster, and volunteered for meals on wheels. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Elvina Sayles (Chase) and William Alexis Chase; his stepmother Julia Clark (Chase); sister Catherine Henline (Asplund); Brothers Fred (Buster); Henry Henline and George. Survived by his companion of 23 years Vera Richards; Children: Marlene Hill (Mann), West Seattle; Helen Deanna Surdyk (Dannie), Snohomish, WA; Jim Smith, St Louis, MO; Gary Chase, Arlington, WA; Kelly Chase, Caldwell, ID; Step-children, Kathy Hopperrath, Federal Way, WA; Judy Erickson, Pacific, WA; Sister Rose Chase (Knapp), Bonney, Lake, WA; Brother Bobby Chase, Modesto, CA; 34 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and Opie. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday May 19, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 805 4th NE, Auburn. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Auburn. Memorials may be made to the King Co. 4 X 4 Search & Rescue or your favorite charities. Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Wednesday at Klontz Funeral Home, Auburn.
