Obituary of George Avina

George Avina was born on January 21, 1932 in Lindsay, California. He graduated from Lindsay High School in 1952. While in high school he was involved in many extra curricular activities including football, basketball, baseball, debate team and a barber shop quartet. He was senior class president and student body vice president. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force. After serving in the Air Force he married his first wife, Marie Huggins Avina and they had three children - Karin, Tony and Sherry. They settled in Seattle, Washington and raised their family there. He worked at Western Electric where he met his second and present wife, Marlene Avina. He retired from AT&T and he and Marlene moved to Kalispell, Montana. They lived both there and in the Auburn area over the years. They finally settled back in Auburn in 2006. Through the course of his life, George was always known as friendly and approachable. He made friends easily and had a steady fun loving nature. He brought happiness and joy to those around him. George enjoyed traveling and liked the outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking, home projects and gardening but was most famous for his grill master techniques. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marlene Avina; Marlene’s children John Skinner and Canliss and her husband, Tom and their children, Joe and MacKenzie. His children, Karin Avina Ekern and her husband Bruce and their children, Joel, Rachael and Gabriel and his two great grandchildren, Madeleine and Audrina; His son, Anthony Avina; his daughter, Sherry Avina Jones and her husband Dale and their children, Annette, Angela and Alec.
