Obituary of Fred Irwin Murtishaw

Fred (Red) Murtishaw passed away on March 6, 2005 at his home in Auburn, WA. He was born in Hot Springs, SD on April 21, l929 to Fred James and Ruth May Murtishaw. Much of his youth was spent in Hillsboro, OR. Fred proudly served in the US Air Force from l946 to l949 and participated in the Berlin airlift operations. He was a member of the White River Valley Post l741 VFW. He retired in l991 from the FAA after 27 years of government service. In his early years Fred was an avid hunter fisherman and boater. In later years he enjoyed doing genealogy. His greatest joy in life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with them on the property on Hood Canal and traveling in their motor home. Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years, Edna Murtishaw of Auburn, WA; His sister Donna Humbert of Sandy, OR and his children, Victoria Schwennsen of Seattle, WA and Marty Murtishaw of Pendleton, OR; granddaughters, Charlotte and Elaina Schwennsen of Seattle, WA. Graveside Services at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA on Friday March 11, 2005 at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM at Klontz Funeral Home.
