Preparing a lesson for Relief Society on missionary work and Joy Bearman comes to mind! Eight years after her passing and her light and example still shines bright. She was a wonderful missionary and had seemingly endless energy and love for those around her. It was a privilege to go on visits with her and witness her love for others as she bore her testimony and shared her love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

My what wonderful memories I have of hearing Joys' beautiful voice singing in Sacrament meeting!! My mother, Frances Crossan, loved Joy very much and spoke fondly of her many times over the years. My Mother always thought it was wonderful the way Joy would address her daughters as her "ladies". Now my Mother and Joy are singing in the heavenly choir together again!! Brother Bearman--- I finally learned to golf!!! So I guess what you taught me in 9th grade math class does come in handy!! My thoughts and prayers are with you all! Peace and Blessings Cathy Crossan - Vork

Joy will be tremendously missed. Her bright eyes and energy were unmatched. Her talent will live for many years to come in all of those that she touched while here. It was a pleasure for me to have known, even slightly, such a beautiful woman. To her family, I express my deepest sympathies and my testimony that you will be together again. She will be watching over you, and she is happy and pain free. Love and peace, and of course, my prayers for your comfort are with you at this time. May the Lord bless and keep you all in his loving arms. Love,Candi

Tom and Family, My deepest sympathy goes out to you during this time of loss. The world has been a better place having had Joy a part of it for 63 years. Your wonderful family will become very precious as you all begin the healing process and provide encouragement from each other. I still think of the years Joanne worked for me at Auburn High School and the many years of working with you, Tom, at Olympic. I learned more about rhodies than I thought I could ever know! In friendship and sympathy, Audrey Cruickshank

Dear Brother Bearman & family, It is with a great deal of sadness that we express our sympathy and condolences at the loss of your dear wife. Her energy and enthusiasm for life are what I remember most about her. I loved being her subsitute companion as she went about her calling as a ward missionary. I learned a great deal about loving people from her and not being afraid to be knock on doors and visit with people and get to know them. Sharing the gospel was second nature to her and I loved how she could do that without inhibition and offending anyone. Although I have not seen or visited with Joy for a few years now since we moved to Sammamish, I feel her loss and know that she will be greatly missed, especially by those who had the privilege of associating with her on a daily basis. My love and prayers are for you and your family and that our Father in heaven will provide you the greatest of comfort and peace and knowing of her certain place with Him. With love and prayers, Sister Kaye Rich

To the Bearman Family, Just to let you know we are saddened to hear about Joy- will be missed. She was such a great person. I lived across the street from your famiy and I remember hearing her singing all the way to my house across the street. I would hear the piano, and the singing- We would stand on the porch and listen. I also was comforted by her when my daughter was born. I was overwhelmed, and just having her tell me stories of her children, and how they will be fine.. "she is a kid", "don't worry, they do that".. helped put my mind at ease. And the roses! She took me through her yard last year and at the end of the tour, gave me a beautiful rose. She was just so nice to be around. Just helped make you feel better. Also, as a kid I remember going through the garden and eating the peas! Those were the best peas! Please know your family is in our thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort in eachothers love. The Probst Family, Sean, Robyn, Reanne, and Tanner

It was so good to see Joy at the class reunion, she certainly hadn't lost her sense of humor, or spunk or sparkle. It is a comfort that she was able to enjoy that time she had with her old friends. We will miss her!! Love and prayers to you all. Davi

Joy: In wonderous reflection I doubt whether we spoke to each other during those years so long ago as youthfulness chased our feet down the corridors of Juneau-Douglas High. Yet, we each were members of this special class of '61 and sadly I extend my tearful goodbye. God Bless, Dave

I loved Joys singing and when we would sit in sacrament I would try to match my pitch with hers and I was so happy that I could sound like her.

We have many wonderful memories of Joy. One of my first memories was when we first moved to Auburn and Joy and Sister Lane were my first "visiting teachers". Joy looked at our new home and totally unlandscaped yard, then said "there's a great sunny spot for your garden". We put in a garden where she suggested and it was a wonderful spot! Joy cut all of our hair, and even did it when one of our boys got lice! I remember she was so sweet to him about it (he was mortified!). we did lots of music activities together and sang in the choir together for the January 2006 Stake conference. What a wonderful, elect lady! She will be greatly missed.
